Rough Diamond Quality Index: Classification of 19 Producer Countries

Discover below the ranking of diamond producing countries according to the quality of the diamonds mined in each country.

The quality of diamonds varies from one country to another. Some countries - such as the Democratic Republic of Congo - produce an important amount of diamonds, but their total production includes a huge amount of industrial diamonds (more or less 80% of their total production.).

Conversely, other countries - such as Anglo or Namibia - produce exclusively high-value diamonds used for jewelry.

Some countries are famous for producing high-quality diamonds, like Angola and Namibia. Conversely, countries like Liberia produce a significant amount of industrial diamonds.

Some countries like South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo have produced some of the biggest diamonds in the world. Conversely, Canadian mines produce a huge amount of diamonds but the weight of these gemstones remains fairly modest.
